divine inspiration
double take.
May 26, 2010
Karl Lagerfeld photographed model Iris Strubegger as a series of famous and iconic fashion directors, including himself, for an editorial titled "Designer Double Take" in the March issue of Harper's Bazaar.
The model was superbly styled (hair by Odile Gilbert, make-up by Max DeLorme, fashion styling by Jacob K) and posed in Lagerfeld's own likeness as well as the likenesses of the following.
KARL LAGERFELD
With his signature ponytailed coif and slim noir suit, the mastermind behind Chanel, Fendi, and his own label can never truly be duplicated. Good thing he's in on the joke.
SONIA RYKIEL
She's the gamine's go-to, but with her unmistakable red mane the grande dame of Left Bank chic is a Parisienne in a category all her own.
DONATELLA VERSACE
Unapologetic 24/7 glamour isn't easy, yet it's child's play for Versace's bronzed and blonde lady of the house. This designing bombshell is her own best muse.
JOHN GALLIANO
Never less than meticulously turned out from head to toe, Dior's creative genius deserves every last minute of his postrunway bow.
CAROLINA HERRERA
Has a white shirt ever looked more refined? Always immaculate, New York's beacon of elegance is a rare breed who shows them how it's done — or at least how it should be.
REI KAWAKUBO
Comme des Garçons's avant-garde visionary might be press shy, but her blunt bob and demeanor speak volumes.
VIVIENNE WESTWOOD
The ginger-haired maverick is the grandmother of punk, but Dame Viv's radical look is forever young at heart.
